You know the ‘voices’ I’m talking about. Some call it a conscience. Some imagine a little angel/devil on their shoulder. It’s all the same – it’s your intuition. That feeling in your gut that tells you what you know is right action.

But why do we always question this voice from within as if it has no clue what it’s talking about? I guess if it came from inside us, it must be questioned. Because we question ourselves more than we question others.

This questioning of ourselves comes from fear. Maybe your self esteem is a little low? Fear. Maybe you’re unsure of the unknown, worrying about all the what-ifs? Fear. Arguing with that voice that tells you to ‘Just Do It!’ (hopefully not out loud for others to hear…) That’s Fear.

My advice – Live fearlessly! First step – start listening to your intuition. It takes practice, but like everything else in life, with practice you’ll get better at it.

Angela Artemis has a blog all about Intuition, and she has a great list of ways to begin listening to your inner self. I hope you’ll check out her blog, and your intuition as well.

It isn’t what you have, or who you are, or where you are, or what you are doing that makes you happy or unhappy.  It’s what you think about.

Reflect, manifest, reverb

Posted on 24th November 2010 in Staying positive

The holidays bring about feelings of joy and pain for many. Seeing my family is usually a joyous event. Watching the elders grow older is somewhat painful for me. Watching the kids tear into their Xmas gifts is both a joy and a pain for me.

This year I was introduced to the #Reverb10 writing event by my perpetually influential husband, who always knows the newest, coolest stuff on the Interwebs. Fortunately for all of us, he enjoys sharing his wealth of awesomeness :)

The #Reverb10 project is an opportunity for me to practice writing (and thinking), reflect on the past year and make a plan for how to stay positive in 2011.  They will provide daily creative prompts and I will use the P.M.A. blog to share my thoughts with the two people who read this blog the world.

The project is open to anyone who would like to reflect and manifest. It’s free. It goes on throughout the month of December. You don’t even have to write on a blog for the public to see – you can get the prompts in your email if you just want to think about it and write in your journal. After all, that’s pretty much what a blog is – a public journal – right?

If you do like to write – for public, private or just practice – please check out 750words.com. You’ll love it. Promise!

Ignorance is not bliss

Posted on 15th November 2010 in Learn something new

Some say ignorance is bliss.

I can see where sometimes it would be easier to keep your head in the sand rather than dealing with difficult situations, and I have read plenty of news headlines that have literally brought me to tears, just from the headline.

But a nice lady once said to me…

Don’t stick your head in the sand or else someone will come along and kick you in the ass every time.

I think a very important part of being happy and keeping a positive attitude is education. Educate yourself. You don’t have to pay university-rate tuition to get an education. You can learn something new every day, for free.

Go for a walk and you could learn that there’s a new store in your neighborhood.

Meet your neighbor and you could learn their name, or even find out she works for Krispy Kreme is always has free donuts! <– real life story

If you want to learn something, here’s a great place to start your learning for free. This list is from Marc and Angel’s blog, which has a plethora of Practical Tips for Productive Living.

I have no doubt you can find at least one thing to learn today. :) Let me know what you find!

Two kinds of people

Posted on 14th November 2010 in Staying positive

There are 2 kinds of people, those chasing pleasure and those running from pain. Pleasure helps to forget pain. Pain forces us to hope. Tell yourself this can’t last. Today could be different. Today something just might change. ♥
